Daniel Castillo is a Spanish 2D animation/storyboard artist currently based in Kilkenny, Ireland.

Working on the upcoming unannounced Feature film as a Rough Character Animator at the multi-award-winning and Academy Award-nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon, Previously, he worked as both Rough Animator and Cleanup Artist on the Studios`s upcoming feature Julian.

Daniel’s journey into animation began in Madrid, driven by a deep passion for the art form and a genuine fascination with the animation medium. This enthusiasm led him to study at The Animation Workshop in Denmark, where he developed and refined his skills in traditional hand-drawn animation while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire production pipeline.

During his studies, Daniel actively sought opportunities to broaden his experience within the industry. He worked as a Character Designer for Electric Theatre Collective and as a Storyboard Artist on the award-winning short film ¨The Quinta’s Ghost¨. These experiences allowed him to strengthen his artistic vision while gaining valuable insight into collaborative production environments.

Eager to deepen his understanding of professional animation workflows, Daniel completed an internship with Feed Me Light, where he became familiar with the production processes and creative demands of a commercial animation studio. Shortly after, he joined Cartoon Saloon, marking the beginning of his professional career in feature animation.

Above all, Daniel is passionate about animation as a medium for storytelling. He is constantly in the search for new styles, new voices and new points of view of this endless form of communicaton. The collaborative spirit of the industry and his dedication to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful animated productions continues to drive his work every day.
